Neuroscientist Michael Gazzaniga has been recruited to UC Santa Barbara, away from his endowed chair at Dartmouth (where he has also served as Dean), to lead a new interdisciplinary research center focused on interdisciplinary examination of the mind. The Center has been endowed by a $3.5 million gift from SAGE publications. Gazzaniga, who has recently focused almost exclusively on bioethics and specifically neuroethics - he authored the first book on the subject,
The Ethical Brain - is a member of the President's Council on Bioethics.
